In the past I have studied various forms of visual art such as photography, graphic design and collage. While I have found the study of these subjects interesting and critical to my view as an artist I felt these mediums were too two-dimensional to be fully appreciated, and thus began the study of fashion and textile design as a three-dimensional solution to two-dimensional artwork.
As a product of West Indian heritage, many of my designs focus on colour, comfort and expression. I view my work as a dissection of eastern styles, a moulding of Caribbean sensibilities, and a blending of sophistication and comfort. My creations take familiar visual elements, silhouettes, and traditional art techniques to create original textile designs and unique wearable fashions.
